NEET Domicile Criteria for Andaman and Nicobar
Candidates seeking admission to state quota seats must be domiciled in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar.
Andhra Pradesh NEET Domicile Rules
Admission to MBBS/BDS courses in Andhra Pradesh under the state quota is differentiated between local and non-local candidates. According to the NEET admission criteria for Andhra Pradesh, local status is further divided into Andhra University (AU) and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) areas. The AU local area comprises seven districts, while the SVU area comprises five districts. Non-local candidates are eligible only for 15% of unreserved seats, whereas local candidates are eligible for both 15% unreserved seats and 85% local area seats.
Local Area Candidates in Andhra Pradesh: Students from the following districts of AU, SVU, or OU (Osmania University, Telangana) areas are considered local area NEET domicile candidates for MBBS/BDS admission to institutes within the local area and to any other educational institution (excluding state-wide colleges) under state government control situated in this local area.
AU local area districts – Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, and Prakasam

AP NEET Domicile Criteria for NEET 2024:
To qualify as a local candidate for NEET admissions in Andhra Pradesh:
- Candidates must have either studied in a school/college within the state’s local area for a minimum of four consecutive years preceding the relevant qualifying examination, or
- Resided in the local area for at least four consecutive years before appearing for the relevant qualifying examination.
Candidates not meeting the above criteria but having studied in educational institutions within the state for seven consecutive academic years before applying for NEET may be considered local based on:
- The local area where they have studied for the most significant number of years out of the seven.
- Equal periods of study in two local areas.
- Residence in any local area(s) for a minimum of seven consecutive years, even without attending educational institutions in the state.
Additionally, candidates may apply for the 15% unreserved seats if they meet any of the following conditions:
- Resided in the state for a total period of ten years excluding periods of study outside the state.
- Their parent(s) have resided in the state for a total period of ten years excluding periods of employment outside the state.

NEET Domicile Criteria for Arunachal Pradesh:
For Arunachal Pradesh NEET admission under the state quota:
- 80% of seats are reserved for APST category (Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe).
- 20% of seats are allocated for Non-APST candidates, including children of Non-APST State Govt. Employees, Central Govt. and PSU employees, and others who have lived in Arunachal Pradesh for at least three years and passed Class 12 or equivalent from any school within the state.
NEET Domicile Criteria for Assam NEET 2024:
For admission to Assam MBBS/BDS courses:
- Candidates or their parent(s) must have continuously lived in Assam for a minimum of 20 years.
- Candidates must have studied in Assam from classes 7 to 12.
NEET Domicile Criteria Bihar 2024:
To be eligible for 85% state quota reservation in Bihar NEET admission:
- Candidates’ parent(s) must be residents of Bihar or refugees settled in Bihar.
- Candidates’ parent(s) may belong to another state but must be employed by the Bihar Govt.
- Candidates’ parent(s) were in Bihar Govt. service before the creation of Jharkhand, with transferable services to Bihar or Jharkhand Govt.

NEET UG 2024 Domicile Criteria for Chandigarh:
Candidates may be eligible for 85% state/ UT reservation in Chandigarh’s medical colleges if:
- They studied in schools recognized by the Chandigarh administration within the Union Territory, as regular students.
- Their parent(s) have been residents of Chandigarh for the preceding five years from the NEET application date.
- Their parent(s) are employees of Central/ State Governments on deputation to Chandigarh, or in autonomous bodies/companies where Chandigarh administration has 20% or more stake, and have resided in Chandigarh for the preceding three years from the NEET application date.
Eligibility Criteria for SC Category and PwD in UT Chandigarh: Candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria and submit relevant SC/PWD Certificates.
Foreign Indian Students Eligibility Criteria for UT Chandigarh: Candidates must be of Indian origin (OCI’s, people of Indian origin holding passports of other countries, or residing abroad for at least three years before admission to Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh) and meet general eligibility criteria. Non-Indian nationals are not eligible. Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in relevant subjects. Foreign Indian Students are categorized based on ancestral background or ownership of immovable property in Chandigarh.
Chhattisgarh NEET Domicile Criteria 2024:
For Chhattisgarh MBBS admission, candidates must:
- Be born in Chhattisgarh.
- Hold domicile status in Chhattisgarh.
- Pass Class 12 from an Educational Institution affiliated to the Chhattisgarh Board or any other recognized board.
- Have parents employed by the Central Govt. or the Chattisgarh Govt., residing in the state.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli NEET Domicile Criteria Eligibility:
In the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, priority for MBBS/BDS admission is determined based on domicile eligibility:
Priority 1: Applicants whose parents/guardians are domicile holders of Daman & Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and who have studied continuously from Class 8th to 12th in recognized schools within the UT. Priority 2: Candidates whose parents/guardians are domicile holders of Daman & Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and who have studied in recognized educational institutions within or outside the country. Priority 3: Applicants whose parents/guardians are employees (regular/on deputation/on transfer) of UT Administration/Central Government/UT PSUs/Central PSUs posted in Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for the past 5 years, with continuous study in recognized schools within the UT from 10th to 12th standard. Priority 4: Other eligible candidates from any State/UT.
Delhi NEET Domicile Rules for NEET 2024:
To qualify for the 85% state quota seats in Delhi University MBBS admission, candidates must have completed Class 12 from any school in Delhi-NCR affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, or JMI.
NEET Domicile Goa Criteria 2024:
For Goa MBBS/BDS admission, candidates must have resided in Goa for at least 10 years (5 years if their parents or grandparents were born in Goa) and must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from an Educational Institution in Goa.
Gujarat NEET Domicile Rules for NEET 2024:
Eligibility for state-quota reservation in Gujarat NEET admission includes being a citizen of India or an Overseas Citizen of India. Candidates born in Gujarat or holding Gujarat domicile, having studied Class 10 and 12 from recognized boards in Gujarat, are eligible. Other criteria apply to candidates born outside Gujarat or born in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Haryana NEET Domicile Criteria 2024:
Candidates for NEET in Haryana must be bona fide residents of the state for at least 10 years and should have studied under recognized boards such as CBSE, HBSE, AICSE, or Open Haryana Board.
HP NEET Domicile Eligibility 2024:
For HP NEET, candidates must meet criteria based on their parents’ bonafide Himachali status, schooling in Himachal Pradesh, and parent’s employment status, with exemptions for certain cases like serving/ex-servicemen in Defense/Paramilitary forces.
NEET J&K Domicile Criteria 2024:
To qualify for JK MBBS/BDS admission, candidates must be domiciled in UT of J&K/Ladakh and must have passed Class 12 from a recognized statutory Board/University within the state.
Jharkhand NEET Domicile Rules 2024:
Jharkhand MBBS/BDS admission is reserved for local/permanent residents of Jharkhand or those who have passed Class XII from the Jharkhand Board. Permanent residency certificates are required for eligibility.
Karnataka NEET Domicile Criteria for NEET 2024:
To be eligible for the 85% state quota in Karnataka NEET UG, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Studied in Govt. or Govt. recognized schools in Karnataka for at least 7 years from Class 1 to 12.
- Passed Class 11 and 12 from a Govt. or Govt. recognized Institution in Karnataka, with parents having studied in Karnataka for at least 7 years.
- Candidate and their parents’ mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava, and the parents must be domiciled in Karnataka. The candidate should have studied outside Karnataka and currently reside outside the state as of May 11 of the particular year. A Kannada Language Test is required.
- Candidate’s mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava, and studied for 7 years (Classes 1 to 12) in disputed Kannada speaking areas of Maharashtra or Kerala. A Kannada Language Test is required.
- Children of Defense Personnel who served in Karnataka continuously for at least one year during the candidate’s classes 11 and 12 from a Govt. or Govt. recognized Institute in Karnataka.
- Children of Defense Personnel who declared a place in Karnataka as their hometown while joining Defense Services.
- Children of Defense Personnel currently serving outside Karnataka but allowed by authorities to stay in Karnataka, passing the qualifying examination from a Govt. or Govt. recognized Institution in Karnataka.
- Children of ex-servicemen who declared Karnataka as their hometown while joining Defense Services, passing the qualifying examination from a recognized Institution anywhere in the country.
- Employees of Central Govt. or Karnataka State Govt. serving in Karnataka continuously for at least one year during the candidate’s classes 11 and 12 from a Govt. or Govt. recognized Institute in Karnataka.
- Children of MPs elected from Karnataka, passing Class 12 from a recognized Institution anywhere in the country.
- Children of employees in All India Services of Karnataka cadre or Karnataka State Govt., serving outside Karnataka during the candidate’s study period, adding up to 7 years.
- Migrants from Jammu and Kashmir with proof of domicile.
- Studied 10 full years in Kannada medium from any Govt. or Govt. recognized Educational Institution in the country.
- Children of Central Armed Police Force personnel who declared Karnataka as their hometown while joining CAPF, passing Class 12 from a recognized Institution anywhere in the country.
- Studied from a Karnataka-based Institution from classes 9th to 12th, or 1st and 2nd year PUC, with parents having studied in Karnataka for at least 7 years.
- Passed Class 12 from an Institution outside Karnataka with a Karnataka domicile holder parent, with Kannada, Kova, or Tulu as the mother tongue, requiring a Karnataka Language Test.
Kerala NEET Domicile Criteria Rules:
Candidates seeking admission to medical colleges in Kerala fall into three categories:
- Keralite Category: Kerala origin candidates or children of All India Service Officers posted in Kerala, eligible for Communal/Special Reservations or fee concessions.
- Non-Keralite Category I (NK-I): Candidates meeting certain criteria, including studying in Kerala or being residents for a specified period.
- Non-Keralite Category II (NK-II): Students not falling into the above categories, eligible only for open quota management seats in Private Colleges
MP NEET Domicile Criteria for NEET 2024:
Only candidates who are domicile holders of Madhya Pradesh are eligible for the 85% state reservation in MP NEET. Additionally, the following candidates are eligible:
- Children of Freedom Fighters
- Wards of Defense Personnel
- Candidates whose parents work with the Government of India and are posted in Madhya Pradesh.
NEET Domicile Criteria for Maharashtra:
There are five ways candidates may fulfill the domicile criteria for NEET in Maharashtra:
Maharashtra State Candidature Type A:
- Passed Class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra
- Possess a domicile certificate from Maharashtra (having lived there for 10 years) or a birth certificate indicating birth in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type B:
- Passed Class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra
- Parent has a domicile certificate from Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type C:
- Passed Class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra
- Parent is a Government of India employee or works for a Government of India undertaking posted in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type D:
- Passed Class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra
- Parent is an employee of the Government of Maharashtra or a Government of Maharashtra undertaking.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type E:
- Passed Class 10 and 12 from a recognized institution on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border
- Candidate’s mother tongue is Marathi, and they hold a domicile/birth certificate from the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area.
Institutional Quota: Candidates from all over the country, including NRIs, OCIs, and OMCs, can target Institutional Quota seats, with preference given to NRI candidates. These seats are filled through CAP.

NEET Punjab Domicile Rules:
Only bona fide residents of Punjab are eligible for the 85% state quota seats through Punjab UG NEET admission. Exceptions include candidates whose parents worked with the Central Government of India/Punjab Government/ or All India Services and have passed away, among others.
Puducherry NEET-UG Domicile 2024:
Candidates eligible for 85% reservation in Government Colleges in Puducherry must meet one of the following criteria:
- The candidate, parent, or guardian (in the absence of parents) must have resided continuously in Puducherry UT for at least five years preceding the application date.
- Those who completed academic studies continuously for five successive classes immediately preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the qualifying examination) in a recognized Educational Institution located in Puducherry UT and having their residence in Puducherry UT for five years continuously during that period.
- Children of natives of Puducherry UT who declared any place in Puducherry UT as their hometown, certified by their respective Heads of Office, with a Nativity Certificate.NEET Domicile Criteria
- Children of Central/State Government Servants/Defense Personnel/Central Paramilitary Forces/Public Sector Undertakings employees posted and serving in Puducherry UT for at least a minimum continuous period of three years immediately prior to the last date of submission of the application.
Rajasthan Domicile Criteria for NEET 2024:
To be eligible for the 85% state reserved seats in Rajasthan NEET admission, candidates must fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Certified resident of Rajasthan.
- Parents must have lived in Rajasthan for a minimum period of 10 years, with the candidate studying in the state from classes VIII to XII.
- Parent/s serving/retired employees of the Govt. of Rajasthan with at least 3 years of service on the last date of submission of the application.
- Natural child of serving/retired Defense/Para-Military personnel originating in Rajasthan but posted anywhere in India.
- Natural child of a permanent, serving Defense Personnel posted in Rajasthan on the last date of submission of the application.
- Child of a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, not availing a similar benefit in any other state.
Tamil Nadu NEET Domicile 2024:
To avail the state quota reservation under Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission:
- Bona fide resident of Tamil Nadu.
- Completed schooling from 6 to 12 from Tamil Nadu, requiring a Nativity Certificate.
- Candidates partially or fully completing schooling from 6 to 12 outside Tamil Nadu need to submit copies of parent’s documents and an undertaking stating they haven’t applied as natives of any other state.
- NRI and PIO candidates eligible under Management Quota must meet Govt. of India/Govt. of Tamil Nadu regulations.
Telangana NEET Domicile Rules 2024:
Local area candidates from Telangana are eligible for 85% reservation. They must meet one of the following:
- Studied in the local area for a minimum of 4 consecutive years.
- Resided in the local area for a minimum of 4 consecutive years.
- Studied in the state for 7 consecutive academic years and not regarded as a local candidate under the first two criteria.
Non-local candidates can apply for 15% unreserved seats based on various criteria, including residency and parent’s employment status. Management quota seats are open to candidates from all over the country with the relevant qualifications.
NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria Tripura:
- Permanent resident of Tripura for 10 years or more.
- Children of All India Services Officers borne in Tripura Cadre.
- Children of State Govt. employees posted outside Tripura for at least 3 years.
- Ex-Servicemen or children thereof staying in Tripura for at least 5 years.
- Children of Defense Personnel hailing from Tripura staying in the state for 5 years.
NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria Uttarakhand:
- Permanent residents of Uttarakhand passing Classes 10th and 12th from within the state.
- Candidates not permanent residents but passing Classes 10th and 12th from within Uttarakhand.
- Permanent residents of Uttarakhand passing Classes 10th and 12th from outside the state.
NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria Uttar Pradesh (UP):
- Native of UP with a father who is a resident of UP.
- Parents living in UP for a minimum of 3 years.
- Candidates passing X and XII from UP don’t need a domicile certificate.
- Candidates passing either X or XII from UP need to furnish UP residence proof of parents.
NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria West Bengal:
- Residing in West Bengal continuously for at least 10 years.
- Passing 10+2 examination from West Bengal while residing there for 10 years.
