MD Psychiatric Medicine: What is it About?
MD Psychiatric Medicine aim of teaching the undergraduate student in psychiatry is to impart such knowledge and skills that may enable him to diagnose and treat common psychiatric disorders (mentally sick people) .
Also should able to handle psychiatric emergencies and to refer complications / unusual manifestations of common disorders and rare psychiatric disorders to the specialist.
A Psychiatric Medicine postgraduate specialist having undergone the required training should be able to recognize the health needs of the community, should be competent to handle medical problems effectively and should be aware of the recent advances pertaining to his specialty.
The postgraduate student should acquire the basic skills in the teaching of medical/para-medical students. She/he is also expected to know the principles of research methodology and modes of consulting library.
